This has been something of a make or break season for Krahn, who had a strong campaign last year with Lowell, only to lose his starting job to Cam Ward.
Expectations were high for Krahn in 2000, when he was tabbed by Calgary as the ninth pick overall, and second goaltender after Rick DiPietro.
Other netminders taken lower that year, notably Ilya Bryzgalov by Anaheim and Henrik Lundquist by the Rangers, have already made their NHL mark, while the Flames are still waiting for Krahn to show that he can still make his.
At times it appeared that Krahn had been supplanted by backup Curtis McElhinney. Brent is a battler, and followed up subpar showings in December and January with excellent work in February.
Still, for Krahn to be where he is at this stage of the game begs the question whether he can pull off an NHL career. The change of scenery has helped, but Krahn has a question mark hanging over his head in the Knights net like the Sword of Damocles.
Our surveys around the league indicate that some observers think that a first rounder from the top 10 of the 2000 draft could live up to his full potential better. His ranking in with the freshman forty both applauds his run at comebackand places it into current perspective.
