Last season, Scottie was one of the last cuts in the Predators’ training camp, and wound up starting the year with the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL.
Upshall was promoted to Nashville in October, shortly after the 2003-04 season started. However, he would only play in seven NHL games, as knee injuries and a broken hand eventually wrecked his coming out party and sent him back to Milwaukee.
Scottie posted 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) in the 31 games he played for the Admirals, and despite the injuries, was selected to join Team Canada for the AHL All-Star Classic.
In 2004-05, Upshall has again found himself in the AHL, and again has found himself missing games, this time with a thumb injury.
Nevertheless, he has been productive for the Admirals when he is on the ice, scoring 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists), in 24 games played.
If can overcome the injury bug, expect Upshall to make a run at cracking the Nashville roster next season.
