NHL Player Joins The Falcons
Veteran Iain Fraser
signs with the defending Taylor Cup Champs.
The Fresno Falcons have added some old blood to the mix with the signing of centerman Iain Fraser. He is the eighth player in franchise history to have played in the NHL.
He spent parts of five seasons in the NHL for a total of 94 games with the New York Islanders, Quebec Nordiques, Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, and San Jose Sharks.
Originally drafted in the 12th round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by New York, the 13-year pro has played the past four seasons in the German Elite League.
' Until we found a number one center like Derek Cormier last season we struggled on the power play. Cormier's not coming back, but I'm hoping we won't miss a beat now that we have Iain," said Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Blaine Moore.
" I'm not sure you'll find a more talented center at this level than Iain and he fits our mold of being a good character guy. We're excited about what he'll bring to our club."
The Falcons home opener for the 2002-03 campaign is on October 18th in a Taylor Cup Finals re-match with the Idaho Steelheads.
