San
Jose's Quarterback Is Out
The
SaberCats lose Grieb for the rest of the season.
Not
only did San Jose lose to the Arizona Rattlers 59-52, but they also lost
their starting quarterback Mark Grieb late in the third quarter. Suffering
a broken collarbone after being hit by Rattlers lineman Stacy Evans, Grieb
will be out for the entire postseason.
Having
an outstanding season, Grieb passed 3346 yards and 70 touchdowns with only
five interceptions with hopes that dessert would be an ArenaBowl championship.
One
question to ponder is why Grieb was in the game that long. Already having
the home field advantage throughout the playoffs, they evidently wanted
to finish the season undefeated but SaberCats coach Darren Arbet should
not have given Grieb that much playing time.
All
of San Jose's hopes for an ArenaBowl championship rest with backup quarterback
John Dutton.
Dutton
will get a game of seasoning against the Carolina Cobras this week then
has two weeks to prepare for the SaberCats' playoff run.
