Arizona's
White Agrees To Contract Extension
He
is the Rattlers first and only head coach and GM.
09.13.02
- The Arizona Rattlers head coach and general manager recently agreed on
a two-year contract extension with the team that will keep him in Phoenix
through the 2004 season. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Having
recently been inducted into the Arena Football's Hall of Fame Class of 2002,
White is happy to be staying in the Valley of the Sun.
"
This is where I grew up and my family has grown up, and I am glad that I
have the opportunity to stay," said White. " This is where I want
to be."
White
has been a key component to the success of the Rattlers since they took
the field in 1992. The Rattlers have won two world championships under Coach
White [1994, 1997] in their 11-year run.
In
1993 he was named Coach of the Year and became the second coach in AFL history
to win 100 games.
"
Coach White has been a figure head for this team both on and off the field,
and it was very important for the organization to re-sign him," said
Rattlers Vice President Gene Nudo. " He is an excellent coach and invaluable
in the community. We are glad to see him return."
The
Rattlers will begin their run for ArenaBowl XVII, when the new AFL season
kicks off on NBC on February 2, 2003.
