Manchester Wolves OL/DL Abdallah Wiggins heads to Florida for a pair of NFL workouts.

05.06.04 -- Manchester, N.H. – Although af2 lineman Abdallah Wiggins recently spent a week in Florida, it was all business and no pleasure. The Manchester Wolves player was auditioning for the NFL, working out for the Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The 6-4, 290 pound lineman was fresh off a 51-34 routing of Albany, in which he pulled down two sacks. He then packed his bags for the sunshine state and headed south.

Wiggins was one of just 10 players given an exclusive invitation to workout with Miami at the team's training facility. Miami's scouts and personnel executives were on hand Sunday testing him in a thorough training regiment.

The tests included the 40-yard dash, bench press, short shuttle, and some long snapping drills. He also had measurements taken for vertical jump, reach, height and weight. Wiggins is currently awaiting his results from the workout.

"I thought I did well on Sunday," Wiggins, a Grand Valley State alum, said. "I won't know officially what happens until I get the results, so we'll just have to wait and see. Right now I'm just working out and preparing for Saturday."

The future is as bright as the state Wiggins is visiting. This Saturday he is scheduled for a workout with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’ll probably be required to do many of the same drills and tests he performed for the Dolphins.

"This is a great opportunity for Abdallah and we wish him the best," commented Wolves Head Coach Rik Richards. "He's a heckuva football player and he deserves this shot."

In his two games with the Wolves this year, Wiggins has accumulated 4.5 total tackles, two sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. He began the year in camp with the AFL's Orlando Predators.
