Fans of Fresno will recognize the voice of Doug Greenwald reverberating across the summer night sky.

Doug Greenwald just finished his third season as the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Fresno Grizzlies and his tenth season overall in professional baseball.

Doug started working at the ground floor of broadcasting, doing games for the Burlington Bees of the Class-A Midwest League, independent and winter league teams.

In 1999 Greenwald was the voice of the Stockton Ports.

He was picked up in 2000 by the the Shreveport Shreveport Swamp Dragons, where he did two seasons.

Doug took the mike for the High-A Modesto Athletics in the California League in 2002.

The jump to AAA came in 2003, when Doug became the voice of the Fresno Grizzlies.

Broadcasting is probably genetic. Doug's dad, Hank Greenwald, is a long time broadcaster with a resume that includes stints with the Yankees, Giants, and, most recently, the Oakland Athletics. Hank officially retired again just a few days ago, telling the local fishwrap that he wants to help Doug land a big league job.

Greenwald also completed his fourth full season of broadcasting Centenary College basketball in Shreveport, Louisiana.

We think that Doug has a bright future in big league radio. Like the guys that he covers in Fresno, he's just waiting for his call-up.
