On the left is a recent screen shot from one of our competitors, Our Sports Central. Nice folks, and a fine website in the website/news aggregator/gateway category. Click on the link on this reccent screen shot and take a good look at it. If you like their style, advertise with them. On the right is a recent cover from MLN Sports Zone, a digital magazine on-line. Notice a few differences?
There is a little news wedged in between all of those ads. There is a lot of information, and, to our eyes, a lot of clutter.
Now look at the digital magazine cover on the right. It i's built for people who like magazines. Its a cover. No advertising. It's bright, and it's enteraining. You want to find out more. If the cover feature doesn't appeal, we offer ten links on the front page to major sections of the magazine on-line. If you choose "Baseball" you'd see the page below.

MLN Sports Zone allows only one set of five text ads on our section pages. No text ads on magazine articles. There will only be one to four display ads slotted for this section page for the season, starting with one as our number of articles for the summer is short, and four as the season draws to a close.
Your ads stand out.
The look is like a quality magazine that you might pick up at the store.
We don't allow flashing ads, or ads that are not what the editors consider to be of a family-viewable quality.
Magazine design sells your product better.
Each section features large, eye-catching artwork. You won't find a stack of 300 stories here to shotgun blast for reader attention. We narrowband select, well chosen, thoughtful stories.

Our slogan, "Minor League.MAJOR ATTITUDE™," means that we give you access to the fastest-growing market in sports with a look and feel worthy of any major league publication.
Take our FAB50 rankings (Baseball, Hockey: Annual). When we started them four years ago, there was no mid-season polling of the minors. Now four publications do it.

Their List of Top 50 Players.
(From MiLB.com. Each box connects to a stats page that normally exists for the player on the MLB.com site.)
 |
One of Four FAB50 Lists.
(This is normally a full screen. We had to scale it down 30% to sample it here.
Each image is attached to one of 50 original feature articles with 400-1,100 word stories, added photos, videos, and illustrations.
Our player galleries appear by rank, major league club, minor league club and position.)

Notice a little difference? We'd include more, but it fills up a whole page. To see it, if you have our premium subscription, click here.
Our rankings are complied from the pre-season to mid season by our full staff who watch records, poll coaches, scouts, player development directors, reporters, general managers, and media relations directors to get a sense of who, pragmatically, has a chance to go to the majors by mid-season.
Theirs is done by one guy who faxes a ballot to the farm directors. We talk to farm directors. And scouts. And minor leaguemanagers. And the players. And...
MLN publications understand the marketplace better. MLB.com's MinorLeagueBaseball.com is run like an extension of its major league baseball coverage.
We understand the niche market fans better than that, and serve up both the content and the look that they prefer. Oh! And we do it in hockey, the other explosive growth market for minor sports, too. In the not-too-distant future, the NBA D-League will get its own, too.
|
Content is King.
Our competitors do a lot of news aggregating - Pages of links to articles in local newspapers.
All of the articles in MLN Sports Zone are original features written by veteran journalists and the hottest new writers, with large magazine-quality graphics from award-winning designers that tell the stories of the minor leagues with passion and flare.
Would you rather have your product showcased in a crowded bazaar or a showcase window on Fifth Avenue? For advertisers used to quality gloss magazine exposure, an digital magazine like MLN Sports Zone is your ticket.
Looking for flea market ad rates, though? At least try one with clean stalls and good lighting. Our sister publication, MLN - The Raw Feed is an RSS newswire digest of press releases or as we say "Raw Sports News that's Well Done."
Developing LTRs Brings Your Ad Years of Exposure.
We look for Long-Term Readers (LTR). Like the print world, LTRs tend to come back and see your ads more often. Repetitive viewing helps with desire to make purchases, particularly of impulse and larger ticket items.
It also brings you a quality of client who has the focus and patience to absorb your message.
We give readers the ability to focus on your product as well as on the sports news that they came to read. For, as much as people say that they hate ads, a quality ad stimulates their thinking about important purchase decisions and even pleasure centers for fulfilling impulse needs.
We offer display ads on our magazine up to 770 pixels wide (full page). See our rate card and other pages in this ad section for more info on how we can leverage our audience to your product's benefit.
