The June MLB Draft operates under Sir Isaac Newton’s Third Law. Two equal forces act in opposite directions to keep the future of Major League Baseball stuck paying more for the players. The Commissioner of Baseball and his merry band of owners against super-agent Scott Boras.
While we have not heard anything from Commissioner Bud Selig about a ten percent across-the-board reduction in major league ticket prices in response to a lagging economy, he did encourage owners to reduce the largely ignored salary/bonus slot recommendations by ten percent. That recommendation remained still largely ignored.
Scott Boras, the agent usually dangling the contract of the year’s top draft pick remains...
