Edwin Encarnacion is one of the top prospects in the Cincinnati Reds organization, with a signature swing that Maya Anjelou should commit to poetry.

The Big E currently has 19 doubles which makes him second place in the Southern League in that stat cat. He is batting .290 for the Chattanooga Lookouts in 2004.

His time in AA continues due to some defensive troubles. He has averaged around 38 errors in past years. The mission is to get his defense on par with his bat, a task which the Reds’ development team has undertaken.

From our understanding, Cincinnati has full faith in him.
With some more experience and glove work, he should see a move up to AAA and the eventually the big leagues. We don't envision a AAA move until at least 2005. His ability to stay on top of his D there will make the call for his future a good deal easier.
