Nate Schierholtz will be new to many Giants fans in San Jose and to those who drift down from Barry Bonds' pound to catch a glimpse of the future.

He's old news to fans of the South Atlantic League [SAL] this season, where he was among the league leaders with 14 homers, 51 RBI, 21 doubles, and a .593 slugging pct.

His record earned him a trip to the 2004 SAL All-Star game. He had to send his regrets, though, as the Giants had his bags all packed and ready to go June 13th for a trip up to the high Class-A California League.

Fans in San Jose and throughout the league will enjoy watching Schierholtz sink his bat into the league stats there. We expect to see Nate in the AA next spring. Unless there are huge changes in the Giants' major league roster in the next couple of years, he stands a good shot at being the player to be named in some trade.
