4. The DBAP This is another project by HOK, those fun folks who brought you Coors Field, Camden Yards, and Enron in the majors, and many of the fine stadia seen here today. This brickyard doesn't bear much resemblance to the humble, run-down stadium made famous by the movie Bull Durham, which is fine by us. (It's a movie, people, get over it.) The stadium features rooms with a view in a nearby office tower, great public space, and a top-flight field. None of which matters a Tinker's cuss. You come to the DBAP to be a part of IT. The big IT is the Durham mystique, part player, and 90% raucous, rabid fan. This is the home of the best tailgate parties in the minors, but we strongly recommend that you don't bring minors to them, if you catch our drift. You could have put up two tents and trash cans for bases and Durham would still be a great destination to watch any game. |
