Switch Pitcher
Some players cover both sides of the plate. Wes Whisler can cover the mound or the plate well. Is all that stands between him and the big leagues a trade?

The Chicago White Sox do not want a .289 hitter to hit.
Wes Whisler, who checks in at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds with Ben Affleck-good looks, could be the major leaguer that everyone will be talking about, if the ChiSox would just trade him to a National League organization.
A minor league pitcher with a career ERA of 4.01 is not a huge wow, until you consider the bat that goes along with the arm.
As a junior at Noblesville High School, Whisler helped Team USA win a bronze medal at the 2000 Pan American Junior Championships in Hermosillo, Mexico.
“We had a great team,” said Wes, who played in each of the team’s eight games. “Guys like Jeremy Bonderman, J.J. Hardy, Joe Mauer... All impact players in the big leagues now. It was a great honor and an all-around great experience.”
As a senior, Whisler won honors as Indiana’s Mr. Baseball with an 11-2 record and a 1.87 earned run average. He also batted .440 with 15 homers.
“For a high school kid, he had great power,” said Bill Potter, who played against Whisler in summer and fall leagues and currently serves as an MLB Game Day operator for Indianapolis home games.
