03.22.03 - A big year for the Mavs is shaping up as the Brewers have drawn up the the 2003 season roster with fifteen veterans and one of their top prospects in the lineup
Vets Pete Smart, Justin Gordon, Greg Schaub, J.M. Gold, Chris McGee and Jeff Robinson will be coming back, giving the Mavs a solid core of starters.
Brewers number one prospect Brad Nelson will join returning position players Kade Johnson, Daryl Clark, Brian Foster, Scott Candelarißa, Johnny Raburn, Froilan Villanueva, Todd West and Dan Boyd.
Left-handed pitcher Pete Smart was the Mavs leader in innings pitched (180) and victories (9). Newly converted outfielder Daryl Clark, was among the team-leaders in home runs (19) and RBIs (78) before breaking his ankle in July and missing the remainder of the 2002 season.
Newly arrived arms include Bobby Bystrowski, Dan Hall, Dan Kolb, Brian Mazone, David Nolasko, Chris Saenz and Tony Stavros. New bats include Ozzie Chavez, Ralph Santana, Jason Belcher and Chris Morris.
“Our lineup will be pretty exciting again this year”, said the Voice of the Mavs, Mike Lindskog. “The fans will definitely love the fact that they know more than half the faces on the field.” Hopefully the guys can stay healthy and make a run at the first-half title.”
